Step by Step How to do a BP QT & manage your QT notifications @dirty_biker , @justrob and @Sealine introduced the QT to BudgetPixel as a way for the community to share creations around a common theme. It can be images, videos and music creations. It is a very popular form of sharing. Table of Contents a. To Join the QT Participants : Getting on the QT List b. To Get Off the List c. Managing your QT Notifications d. Joining a QT e. Starting a QT To Join the QT Participants : Getting on the QT List It's easy to get on the list and you will be notified about every QT that people on the list put out. A. Go to @EternaSky ' Enjoy Creating and join the QT Masterlist at https://budgetpixel.com/blog/enjoy-creating-and-join-the-qt-masterlist B. On his blog post, in the comment section, request to be added to the list That's it. You're on the list. @dirty_biker also keeps a list under his profile https://budgetpixel.com/u/dirty_biker . So an alternative way to get on the list is on any of his posts, ask him to add you to his list. To Get Off the List A. Go to Eternasky's Enjoy Creating and join the QT Masterlist at https://budgetpixel.com/blog/enjoy-creating-and-join-the-qt-masterlist B. On his blog post, in the comment section, request to be taken off the list C. Check on dirty_biker's profile, if you are on the QT list under his profile https://budgetpixel.com/u/dirty_biker , in one of his posts request to be removed from the QT list. It is a good idea to tell both people who keep lists if you want to be added or removed as people refer to their lists for the most updated version. Managing your QT Notifications You will get a lot of QT notifications once you're on the list. You will probably not want to join all of them so this will help make your notification list shorter. A. Click on your Notifications Bell in the top menu. A Notification List will pop up. B. At the bottom of the Notifications List, click on "See all notifications". A Notifications Page will pop up. C. On your Notifications Page, click on "Mentions" . You will see all the notifications that mention your name specifically like the QT list does. D. To get rid of the QTs you don't wish to see, float your mouse to the right of the link until 3 dots show. If you see a blue dot, it means you have not clicked on the link. If you don't see a blue dot, then you have clicked on the link in the past. E. If you do not see a blue dot, the 3 dots give only the "delete" option. If you see a blue dot, the 3 dots give the "mark as read" and the "delete" option. F. If you click "mark as read", it will keep the notification but mark it as read. It will no longer be highlighted. When the "All" is highlighted, you can still see those notifications. When the "Unread" button is highlighted, the mark as read notifications will be hidden. you can see in the video, when I click "Unread", the read unhighlighted notification disappears. You will be able to click on the link later if you unhide it. G. If you click "delete", the notification is gone. You won't be able to click on the link later as it is gone. For myself, I usually keep the first notification of QT I might join later. I only delete QTs I'm not joining. Most tho I just mark as read in case I want to visit them later. Once I click unread, my notification list is much shorter and feels a lot more manageable to me. Joining a QT: Choose your image, video or music to post. In the post description, do this: 1. If someone else started the QT, put the "QT: original theme". For example, I joined "QT: Art Deco" . Note: if your image, video or music is NSFW or Mature/Adult, add NSFW, Mature or Adult so people know so those who wish to avoid NSFW can. 2. If you change the direction of the QT for a QT spinoff, name your spin: "My Spin: however you changed it." For example, "My Spin: decopunk". 3. Put the person who started the original QT. If you are doing a spinoff, put the spinoff person instead. Also put the link to the original QT or the spinoff QT, whichever you are doing. Do include both name and link. Some people only put the name and don't include the link. I feel one should do the link so there's a clear chain. Also posts disappear so quickly off the first page, that it becomes impossible to find the original if someone joining wants to see it. Also it's good manners. 4. In the comments of your post (not in the description), paste the QT list from either Eternasky's blog list https://budgetpixel.com/blog/enjoy-creating-and-join-the-qt-masterlist or dirty_biker's liston his profile https://budgetpixel.com/u/dirty_biker . I usually compare the lists. They mostly overlap but there are a few names that are different. I make a list that includes all the names on both lists. 5. Since this comment is what people see in their notifications, I put the QT topic in the front. I also include a link to Eternasky's blog in case they want to request being taken of the list. Since dirty_biker is in the list, I figure they can click on his name to get to his page. Note: if your image, video or music is NSFW or Mature/Adult, note it at the top of the comment so people know so those who wish to avoid NSFW can. Starting a QT: 1. Choose your image, video or music to post. 2. In the post description, type "QT: the name of your theme" . That's it. You don't have to say spin or refer to someone else since you're starting it. 3. See Steps 4 and 5 for adding the QT list to your post comments (not in the body of your description. Conclusion That's everything I can think of. If you have any other questions about QTs, post them in the comments below. I'll do my best to answer them.
