About this image

A moody, indie-style album cover featuring a woman in a light sweater and denim shorts sitting on a wooden deck at twilight, holding a mug of black coffee. Ghostly paper-cut silhouettes of musicians and dancers hang on a clothesline, creating an ethereal backdrop near a calm body of water. Gold handwritten lyrics and the title “Black Coffee” by Marianne Faithfull add a poetic, atmospheric touch suitable for music and art discovery.

Amazing image, and fabulous song. Love that smoky sax and her voice. - Once upon a time Marianne was Mick's girl. And the first song that Mick and Keef wrote, As Tears Go By, was first performed and released by Marianne: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-efIjZ_1yQg - And a song I have enjoyed singing. You have yourself to blame, nudging me to share my covers. We spoke about singing, this is early days of singing, second after the course (if you get bored skip to 2'40") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK8zhZkAEEY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xke4vCfzxBw

@DavidP Yeah, I think if you're not monetized, it's less of a problem because then it's "fan art" more or less. I've heard of a few channels losing their channel when they were qualified finally to monetize and applied. Their content gets looked at as part of the process. At that point channels get closed down. Then they have to appeal and that's hard to win. That's actually why I initially tried out AI music. I wanted background music on my Second Life channel and I didn't want to run into problems once I qualified to monetize. Never got enough viewers for that but I'm glad I did it. That's when I found out I could put music to my lyrics.

I didn't know the looper recorded. I thought you played something and then it just repeated. I followed Kawehi https://www.youtube.com/@IAmKawehi/videos awhile back and she does that. Does something a little and then gets it repeating. Then does something else and repeats that. I guess I didn't make the logic leap to it records the sound. That makes sense. She stopped making stuff for YT a couple of years ago when they cut the pay and she moved over to FB. A lot of the small musicians did htat at that time. At the time I didn't know FB paid but somehow it does. YT also stopped letting people do covers so it was a double whammy.

@CaylaCatz Broken English is also the album I have listened to - yes, that is what is done with a looper. In my context we use it mostly as a practice tool- record some chords and then improvise over them to practice lead playing - For that recording I could also have made a multi-track recording in my DAW, but wanted to try and produce it in a 'live' way - Many artists use loopers in a creative way, laying down multiple tracks and with most sophisticated loopers, multiple tracks that can be started and stopped. Perhaps most well known, at least to me, who does this live is Ed Sheeran - And THANKS for listening

@CaylaCatz and no reason for you to have ever thought about loopers, as per our previous conversations about interests etc. - YT doesm't prevent you uploading covers, I do it all the time. Mostly when my cover is recgnisable, I get a note in YT that it is copyrighted, that I cna share, and all money will flow to the copyright holder. There are a few artists, such as Don Henley, who will invoke a copyright strike and you must remove the video. - Can't comment about YT and monetisation. Certainly there is money to be made and I expect there are musical content creators who do.

Thank you, Hiths, for the lovely feedback. And also for the tip! That was very kind of you! This one was really hard to make so I especially appreciate it.!

Tears is a lovely song. I first heard it on Nancy Sinatra's Boots album when I was a teen. Either my dad or my sister had that album. I love Marianne Faithfull's voice. My intro to her was Broken English. That was cool what you did with the looping thing. So you record yourself playing and play it back while you're playing again? to make a fuller sound like there's more people playing with you? That's pretty cool.

@CaylaCatz For sure, figting YT is a huge challenge. I watched a few of Rick Beato's (YTer on music, educational, documentary, infotainment) on his struggles with strikes, blocks etc.
