Four female futuristic search and rescue operatives

The Arctic Combat Search and Rescue Team. I didn't want to do gigantic robots in battles for the challenge, so I thought of other ways of showing Mech and decided that I would feature humans in armoured suits (like Marvel's Iron Man, War Machine and Rescue). I also gave a more "noble" narrative of them being in a Combat Search and Rescue Team (common in wars to have such CSAR teams), so that I could pivot away from fights and wars, and present a more peaceful piece. Together with GPT we came up with tens of designs, taking references from Marvel, and decided on these 4. I was probably too eager to showcase these designs that I neglected that I shouldn't just show, but tell a story with them. I should have featured this team in action rather than just standing together for a group photo. I was aware that this was likely a deviation from the theme and so I didn't expect this to do well - maybe in the 30s or 40s in ranking. Ending up 59th out of 64th was something hard not to feel disappointed about, considering the efforts being put in. Maybe I went too far into assuming that armoured suits do not stray too far from Mech, while the voting considered Mech as strictly robots.

Meh, I tried way too hard for my mechs to look "good" or on theme; didn't help much. At least these stood out from the rest, not to mention their design is way better the most of the submissions imo. Did you use a custom prompt for the surfaces/materials or an image reference?

Hmm not really. Went through a number of rounds of design with GPT - I did ask GPT to reference Marvel's Iron Man, War Machine, and Rescue designs closely, especially Rescue, as her armoured suit designs were made for women.

I believe she have quite a number of designs in the comics... but many might just be GPT's own creations... I only asked it to research and take reference

re Rescue: oh wow, yeah that is a great choice for a base template. I never knew Pepper had her own alias or custom suit role.
