Sure, but then they'd be taken to an uncertain future; perhaps by rescuing them and changing the timeline, the future will be worse than where they came from. Or are you going to tell me they go to the past, change their timeline, but can return to the original? That wouldn't make sense to me.

They take them to a wolrd prepared for them. Those are super-science people, here. I'm thmiking something like Asimov's "End of Etrenity" here, an organization existing out of time, surveying and building timelines.

It's the Parallel Worlds Theory. Each action of a time-traveller altering History results to the creation of a branching new time-line. Original time-line continues unchanged
