Some people, especially in the beginning as they are learning, copy other people's prompts and phrases. In that case, yes, they are acting as curators as they are inputting their knowledge or skill into the process. Once a person starts making their own prompts, putting together phrases, experimenting with vocabulary, I think of us as more of collaborators in the way that writers and artists are collaborators to make a graphic novel. Without the story, the graphic novel doesn't exist. Without the images, the graphic novel doesn't exist. You can have a story without images or images without a story but they are not a graphic novel; they are something else: a poem. a novel, a photograph, a painting on the wall. The thought we put into a prompt to bring an idea into life -- we are more than curators sorting through already made images. We are the art directors telling the photographer, the graphic artist, and the rest of the crew what the concept and vibe that we want should look like.

Thanks, I'll read that later. But your summary makes sense, and going forward I will refer to myself as a collaborator and curator (because, at least in our workflow, we generate sometimes dozens of images during the collaboration phase, and then pick just one or two, so we are still curating our own collection haha).

Thanks! I often joke that we're not so much artists as we are curators. After all, we don't actually create the art, but we DO choose the best of the many images that AI creates for us.

I first saw the collaborative idea in @elkanthe 's blog https://budgetpixel.com/blog/from-riffs-to-runes-translating-heavy-music-into-visual-myth yesterday. the idea just really resonated with me and felt like it fits how I've been feeling about the process.

yeah, I'm like you. I don't publish everything I make. I try to pick the best one and sometimes will delete the rest. My storage is still filling up tho.

Very cool! I can see why you choose this for the challenge. It's my favorite of all of them

That's actually a very compelling argument! Maybe we are more than just curators. I like the collaborator term...
