MONSTERS: They Already Know You
By Charly Palermo
I begin with this first installment a Monsters saga, where each installment will have several chapters. The titles are: - MONSTERS: They Already Know You Modern Myths 👉 What Watches You 👉 What Imitates 👉 What Waits - MONSTERS: Dark Fantasy 👉 What Has Crossed into Eternal Myth 👉 What Film and Literature Made Immortal 👉 What We Want to See… Even If It’s Scary - MONSTERS: Legends That Raised Us Folklore Myths 👉 What You Were Told as a Child 👉 What “Would Come If You Didn’t Behave” 👉 What Never Completely Disappeared But that will be another story; now let's talk about four beings, those who should not be seen twice. 1. THE MIMIC — The Voice That Knows You 🖤 Presentation It doesn't come running in. It doesn't break down doors. First… it calls you. With a voice you know. That you trust. That you don't question. And when you answer… it's too late. 🌍 Origin / Region It doesn't belong to any one country. It has been reported in: United States United Kingdom Japan Argentina 👉 But always in the same kind of places: Quiet houses. Enclosed spaces. Places where someone answers… without thinking It has no territory. It has access. 📜 History / Records It doesn't appear in ancient mythologies. It's modern. Too modern. Typical cases: Someone hears their mother calling them from another room. They go... and there's no one there. Minutes later... the real mother arrives home. Or worse: Two people hear each other's voices... at the same time. 👉 No physical evidence. 👉 Only testimonies... that coincide too closely. 🍽️ “Food” It doesn't eat meat. It doesn't drink blood. It feeds on: Trust Automatic reactions The moment you let your guard down 👉 The more familiar the voice… the stronger it is. Its food isn't your body. It's your decision to believe. 🏚️ Habitat It doesn't live in forests. It doesn't lurk in caves. It lives in: Adjacent rooms Half-open doors Hallways where you can't see the end 👉 There's always at least one barrier: a wall… a door… a corner It's never completely visible. 👁️ Sightings / Patterns There are rules that are repeated: It never imitates strangers. It never appears first as a figure. It always starts with a sound. And the most unsettling: 👉 It never responds if you confront it directly. If you say, “I know it’s not you,” The silence… is immediate. 🧠 Belief / Interpretation Some say it's: An interdimensional entity An echo of consciousness A glitch in perception Others… something simpler: 👉 Something that learns by observing us Imaginary film 🕯️ Closing (whisper) The next time you hear your name… don't answer so quickly. Because if you hesitate for a second… you might hear something else. Something that shouldn't be there. 2. HAT MAN — The One You See Half Awake 🖤 Presentation You wake up… but not completely. Your body is still. Your breath feels heavy. And in the corner of the room… someone is standing. Tall. Still. Wearing a hat. Not moving. Not approaching. Just… watching. And somehow, you know: 👉 It has been there longer than you’ve been awake. 🌍 Origin / Region The Hat Man has no single origin. Reports come from: United States United Kingdom Germany Brazil Argentina Different cultures. Same description. 👉 A shadow figure 👉 A hat (often fedora or wide-brimmed) 👉 A presence during semi-conscious states It doesn’t belong to a place. It appears… when your mind is between worlds. 📜 History / Records Unlike ancient folklore… this one spreads through experience. Modern reports describe: Sleep paralysis encounters Witnesses unable to move or speak A fixed silhouette observing from a distance Some accounts go further: 👉 The figure moves closer over time 👉 Appears repeatedly across years And the most disturbing detail: 👉 People who’ve never heard of it… describe it the same way 🍽️ “Food” It doesn’t attack. It doesn’t need to. The theory: 👉 It feeds on fear during paralysis 👉 On the moment where you try to move… and can’t 👉 On awareness trapped inside the body The longer you notice it… the longer it stays. And sometimes… 👉 it feels closer than before. 🏚️ Habitat Not a place. A state. It appears in: Bedrooms at night During sleep paralysis Moments between dreaming and waking 👁️ Sightings / Patterns There are patterns people agree on: Always male-shaped. Always wearing a hat. Always silent And almost always: 👉 Standing still at first 👉 Then… slightly closer Never rushing. Never needing to. Because you can’t move anyway. 🧠 Belief / Interpretation What is it? Theories vary: A neurological hallucination A shared archetype of fear A shadow entity feeding on consciousness Or something worse: 👉 A presence that becomes visible only when your body can’t protect you Imaginary film 🕯️ Closing (whisper) If you ever wake up… and something is already in the room… don’t try to move. Don’t try to scream. And whatever you do… 👉 don’t keep looking at it. Because if you do… you might notice that it’s not in the corner anymore. 3. BLACK-EYED CHILDREN — The Knock You Shouldn’t Answer 🖤 Presentation There’s a knock at the door. Late. Too late. You weren’t expecting anyone. When you look outside… two children are standing there. Still. Polite. Something feels wrong… but you can’t explain it. Then they speak: 👉 “Can we come in?” 🌍 Origin / Region First widely reported in the United States (1990s), but similar accounts began surfacing globally: United Kingdom Canada Australia Always the same pattern. 👉 Children 👉 Nighttime 👉 A request to enter No cultural variation. No evolution. As if the script… is fixed. 📜 History / Records Most reports follow an identical sequence: A knock or approach. Children asking for help or entry. Increasing insistence. A growing sense of dread Witnesses describe: Flat, emotionless voices. Strange, outdated language. Behavior that mimics… but doesn’t feel human And then: 👉 The eyes. Completely black. No white. No reflection. After that moment… most people close the door. The ones who don’t? Their stories tend to… stop. 🍽️ “Food” No one knows what happens if they enter. But theories suggest: 👉 They need permission 👉 They cannot cross thresholds uninvited 👉 The act of allowing them in… is the trigger So what do they feed on? Trust Obedience The human instinct to help Not force. 👉 Consent. 🏚️ Habitat They don’t live somewhere. They arrive. Seen at: Houses Cars stopped on empty roads Gas stations at night Places where: 👉 You are alone 👉 You have a choice 👉 You can say yes… or no They don’t break in. They wait. 👁️ Sightings / Patterns Patterns are disturbingly consistent: Always in pairs (sometimes three) Always calm at first Always asking, never demanding But if refused: 👉 Their tone changes 👉 Their presence becomes heavier 👉 The feeling of danger spikes instantly Still… They never force entry. 🧠 Belief / Interpretation What are they? Theories include: Demonic entities bound by rules Interdimensional beings requiring invitation Manifestations of collective fear Or something older: 👉 A system that tests boundaries And waits for the moment… you open the door. Imaginary film 🕯️ Closing (whisper) If someone knocks… late at night… and something feels wrong… don’t try to be polite. Don’t try to help. And whatever you do… 👉 don’t open the door. Because once you do… it’s no longer your house. 4. THE WATCHER — The One That Stands Outside 🖤 Presentation At first… you don't notice it. Why would you notice it? It's far away. Move. Almost like part of the darkness. Then, one night… you look a little longer. And something isn't moving. Because it shouldn't. 👉 But it's there. Watching your house. And closer. 🌍 Origin / Region No official origin. No first report. Just… scattered accounts: United States Rural Europe Isolated towns in South America Always the same: 👉 A figure outside 👉 At a distance 👉 Watching for long periods Not approaching. Not leaving. Like it’s assigned to that place. Or to you. 📜 History / Records There are no ancient myths about it. No folklore. Just modern testimonies: People who see a figure outside their house Always too far away to identify. Some describe a humanoid figure, very tall, very thin, with very long arms and a small head. Others describe a more human-like figure. But always facing the house, watching. Some report: 👉 It appears for days 👉 Then disappears 👉 Then comes back… later And one detail repeats: 👉 It is never seen arriving 👉 It is never seen leaving It’s just… there. 🍽️ “Food” It doesn’t interact. It doesn’t signal. So why stay? Theories suggest: 👉 It feeds on awareness 👉 On the moment you realize you're being watched 👉 On sustained psychological tension The longer you notice it… 👉 the harder it is to stop looking. And maybe that’s the point. 🏚️ Habitat It doesn’t live inside. It stays just outside: Front yards Tree lines Across the street Beyond fences Always at the edge. 👉 The boundary between safe… and not. It respects distance. But never leaves it. 👁️ Sightings / Patterns Patterns emerge: Always alone Always standing Always facing the same direction (you) And the most disturbing: 👉 The more you look… 👉 the more certain you become… that it’s not just watching the house. 👉 It’s watching you specifically. 🧠 Belief / Interpretation What is it? No one agrees. A sentinel A presence tied to individuals Something studying human behavior Or something worse: 👉 Something waiting for a moment… that hasn’t happened yet. Imaginary film 🕯️ Closing (whisper) Tonight… before you close the curtains… take one last look outside. Not a quick one. A real one. Because if you look long enough… 👉 you might notice that it was already there. And maybe… it’s been there for longer than you think.
