"The feeling of having no one with you at the last stop of your journey." When thinking about how to tackle this daily challenge, I chose to link taking the journey on a subway train akin to life journey. So I decided to bring out the mood of solitude by presenting someone nearing the end of his life journey with nobody with him, similar to taking a train to the last stop of the train line and he is the only passenger. I deliberately tuned down the brightness of the visual and making the old man passenger close to a silhouette, keeping the focus on the solitude mood. Was hoping that it could be in the top 30, but ended up 50 out of 88 entries. Seeing how the top 10 had similarly lonely old men but in brighter visuals, I am guessing the decision to make this darker and more sombre did not end up winning more votes. Oh well.

Me personally - I've stopped worrying about the overall score. Without being arrogant, I think mostly the safe and expected gets picked which is not the path I want to take. Happy to make top 10 far less likely

You may be right on the darker look. Perhaps doesn't show well in smaller forms. Equally I just accept that the results would be pretty similar if voted using a random coin toss

Thanks for the kind words. Sadly it didn't do so well in the daily challenge. Maybe it was too dark - there were 2 other lonely old men in top 10 in clearer lighting.

Whoa, there is a lot of depth and complex reflections in this. Nice one, Beast.

The meaning was lost on them then. This is a poignantly powerful piece imho.

I would think that if it were a brighter visual then the voting might just be 50-50. But it being so dark likely turned off some voters immediately who do not wish to look and understand it further.
