Smiling woman in 17th century period dress plays a lute beside a sunlit window
This luminous Dutch Golden Age style oil painting depicts a gentle young woman in lace-trimmed silk period gown seated indoors holding an ornate wooden lute. Soft golden window light casts grid shadows across the muted cool grey walls, paired with rich warm gilded accents and deep navy curtain fabric. The scene carries a calm, intimate quiet mood, rendered with the photorealistic delicate detail of 17th century domestic portraiture.

Gorgeous image, wonderful style. I made the mistake of seeing Cayla name the artist before I could try and figure it out. Another name I know but had no mental image of what their paintings looked like.

Vermeer? The lighting has the vibe of the Dutch golden age. Her face is modern but that's the vibe I get.

17th century... there was a movie based on this artist starring Colin Firth ☺️

Vermeer, if he was born in this era. Very cool!

The image is beautiful - but, i can't guess the artist... 😏

Colin Firth played the artist in a movie....

southamericanmyth

Hmm is a 20th century artist?

southamericanmyth

oh it was johannes vermeer!, to me it looked too "bright" to be vermeer or any chiaroscuro artist, and it looked slightly realist/photorealist so i thought it was a more modern one like from 19th or 20th century

Ok, googled it now 😃Haven't seen the movie though...
