  Gillan often says he considers himself fortunate that they let him write and sing and Steve Morse on auditioning says they seemed as much jazz band as rock band. You can do worse than listen to this for a feel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t59VXXl7Sko - honestly the lyrical content is not great, typical rock band fare, though often quite funny. Though my favourite line must be "I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow" does appeal to me.   Thanks, his voice is amazing. And what I love is the dynamics between Lord and Blackmore. IMHO, I think it is Lord that sets Deep Purple apart from Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. All great bands with excellent vocalists, guitarius, bassists and drummers. But only Purple have the extra dimension that Lord's organ brings. - OK, I am biased, being a fan from the moment I discovered the live album Made In Japan.

  @DavidP I'll have to listen to more Deep Purple. I really hadn't listened to them much before this. I was more pop and lyrics driven. But with Suno, in trying to prompt for sounds, it's also affected how I listen to songs so now I listen to sounds more, to the instruments, how they work alone and together to make a tapestry if that makes sense. This was pretty cool.

  @DavidP I am so happy you experienced that! for me its Iron Maiden, and sometime later this year I'm gonna have the luxury to see them live, I am so happy that I will too because i was honestly worried I never would since they never play around here

  @DavidP I'm in ohio 😄 its not hard to see bands live but since iron maiden tours around the world in a boeing 747 thats not many stops in the US which leaves the concerts to like Vegas and NYC and such

  this has to be one of the first song i hear of that high pitch vibrato singing by Ian Gillan incredible vocal range, precursor of those heavy metal and power metal singers with that powerful voice

  Thanks. Gillan was incredible. And the way live he could match Blackmore's guitar when they traded licks - Purple, Sabbath & Zeppelin the original hard rockers. - Purple my favourite
