The Widow's Curse (1/2) --------------------------------------------------- By the light of the full moon, Eliza Vaduva ventured deep into the forest, away from the village. After the death of her husband, in grief, she'd wandered deep into the forest, desparate for release from sorrow. She'd encountered the Strigoi. Its twisted curse transformed her to a beast every full moon, replacing sorrow with insatiable hunger to hunt and kill. To protect the villagers she went deep into the forest, to survive the ordeal without slaying the people. Now she felt the familiar burning in her veins as the transformation began. The villagers whispered about wolves in the forest, but none suspected the truth about the widow Vaduva. Under the cold moon light's solitude, she screamed and howled as the trasnformation began. Fingernails extended into claws, fangs erupted from her gums, blood trickled from her eyes. The forest seemed to recoil around her, even the wind stilled as her metamorphosis continued. In these moments, Eliza was caught between worlds -woman and beast - her mind still her own while her body betrayed her with unnatural hunger.
