  Hmm, I don't know... with those talons and beak, armor would be like a tin can to him. He could grab several targets at once; he could smash weapons with a single swipe or use the wind from his wings to knock a bunch of humans to the ground and pick them up like hors d'oeuvres at a buffet. That's how I see it: by the time he starts his nosedive, the centaur would have run off so fast that, when the gryphon hits the ground, only humans would be left there—haha.
