About this image

This classic ukiyo-e style artwork depicts a graceful Japanese geisha standing beside shoji sliding doors on tatami mat flooring, wearing an elaborate layered kimono decorated with pink cherry blossom motifs, gold brocade detailing, and bold black and red trim. The background features a moonlit open-air garden with blooming sakura trees and vintage paper lanterns, rendered with the clean linework and flat color characteristic of Edo period Japanese woodblock prints. The warm, muted color palette of cream, deep navy, blush pink, and metallic gold creates a calm, timeless traditional Japanese aesthetic.

This elegant ukiyo-e woodblock style illustration depicts a graceful Japanese woman adjusting her elaborate, layered formal kimono decorated with delicate cherry blossom patterns, standing inside a traditional Japanese tatami room. Warm muted vintage tones of deep red, gilded gold, soft cream, and black define the artwork, with a view of blooming pink cherry blossoms and paper garden lanterns visible through the open veranda, framed by shoji sliding screen walls. A pair of geta sandals and ornamental hairpieces rest on the tatami floor next to the door, completing the quiet, serene historic Japanese aesthetic.

This serene ukiyo-e woodblock style illustration blends traditional Japanese art aesthetics with modern wellness themes, depicting a calm young woman in black athletic wear holding an anjali prayer mudra while seated seiza style on tatami mat flooring. The scene is set inside a traditional washitsu room with wooden shoji sliding screens, overlooking a moonlit garden dotted with blooming pink cherry blossom trees, with a discarded floral kimono and traditional hair accessories resting on the floor beside her. The soft muted warm vintage color palette creates a peaceful, tranquil mood centered on home meditation, mindfulness, and gentle yoga practice.

Indeed, as per the title. I had to google for the poses and stopped short of naming them. I don't do yoga. GC's start images are always photographic and to make the challenge more interesting I change the style. Thought ukiyo-e was most fitting for this sequence

Honestly have no knowledge of geisha and their ways. But thught it was a interesting direction to take, rather than anything more culturally correct, like dancing.

Wow... I never thought I would see a S.T.R.I.P challenge done in a Ukiyo-e art style...really bold and creative while keeping it artistic and tasteful!

  • @DavidP ·

yup, it fitted the start image and I like to change from GC's photographic signature look
