My alternative artwork for The Shadow’s Secret Challenge. I also considered an idea where a young child is the reincarnation of Zhong Kui, the legendary demon vanquisher from Chinese folklore. The child walks home alone at night through an ancient Chinese village, illuminated by rows of glowing red lanterns as mist drifts through the streets. Towering behind him is the immense shadow of Zhong Kui, while evil spirits silently retreat into the darkness. In the end, I chose Da Ji and King Zhou from The Creation of the Gods instead. It's a story I've always loved, and portraying Da Ji and King Zhou through shadows felt like a much harder and more rewarding creative challenge. Final submission: https://budgetpixel.com/p/62597
