Surreal gallery scene where 3D Japanese yokai creatures emerge

About this image

This haunting surreal digital artwork imagines an art gallery exhibit where iconic Japanese yokai spirits appear to burst three-dimensionally out of a classic ukiyo-e "Hyakki Yagyo" Night Parade of One Hundred Demons scroll hung on the back wall. Featured creatures include a menacing horned oni reaching toward the viewer, a kappa, long-haired yurei ghost, one-eyed umbrella yokai, and other grotesque supernatural beings. Muted earthy color palettes, dramatic overhead gallery lighting, and long cast shadows amplify the eerie, fantastical mood, blending traditional Edo period folklore art with immersive modern installation styling.

thank you! like I told Unleashed, I didn't think yokai would win but I liked it so put it in anyways. My other images were so crappy, I deleted them. I was very happy when other people liked this one too. Thank you for the vote and the lovely comment

Thank you! yeah, sometimes you get lucky and it makes what you picture and you think omg! lol. Although it looks more terrifying than in my head since my mental yokai tend to be a bit more anime.

Yeah, congrats! A well deserved first place since this is such a striking image. Somehow I never came across it in the vote--no way I would forget seeing this one if I had!

yeah. I think it's more like it's good to do what you like and don't worry as much about who also might like it.

Nah. It was from all those days in court testifying against the rest of the family (before I went on the witness protection program). 😁
