About this image

This haunting dark surreal gothic mixed-media artwork blends lowbrow pop surrealism themes, featuring two embracing stylized girls with bold red cheek blush and dripping black tears, intertwined with vibrant monarch butterflies, blood-red roses, and a weathered human skull. Layered with vintage handwritten paper scraps, dripping black ink and blood accents, and a moody palette of deep black, rich crimson, and muted earth tones, this melancholic macabre romantic piece resonates with fans of alternative art, gothic wall decor, and dark academia aesthetics.

This haunting surreal contemporary painting reimagines traditional geisha motifs with a dark gothic twist, centering two embracing pale-faced women with iconic red eye and lip makeup, set against a distressed vintage paper background accented with metallic gold leaf. The moody piece layers rich symbolic elements including dozens of vivid multi-colored butterflies, a human skull, vibrant red camellia flowers, and paint drips that blend classic Japanese aesthetics with modern dark surrealism. This emotional, one-of-a-kind artwork resonates with fans of alternative Asian art, gothic illustration, and symbolic mixed-media fine art.

This hauntingly beautiful east Asian-inspired surreal portrait features two young women sharing a tender, intimate moment, their foreheads pressed together beneath a vivid blood-red sun, their faces adorned with dramatic peachy blush, bold red lipstick, and small blood tears rolling down their cheeks. Woven with bright red wildflowers, green foliage,
