[Caption] The Butterfly Duchesses — Two Worlds, One Elegance. While researching for duchess I read that in the olden days of China, some noblesman are given the title of duke and their wives would also be known as duchess (though it is not given the same royalty treatment like the modern day duchess). So I decided to come up with an image that blends the duchesses of both eras and cultures into one. I had expected this to do moderately well among the blooming ladies but can probably understand why it landed bottom 10 in rankings (55 out of 61). Many, including myself, are probably not that familar with the Chinese duchess, so at first glance may perceive seeing a visual with Chinese elements being too abrupt and not fitting to the theme. Also, I was not particularly pleased with the execution myself - the inclusion of the butterfly elements in both worlds seems rather contrived and did not accentuate the elegance that I wanted. I was again being too ambitious to be too different but I am quite happy with the overall blending effect of the two women.
