Very cool! Did you ever read the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman. Death is a perky goth young woman, one of the Endless 7 siblings who are older than the gods. I always thought she was a cool character, and very different than most personifications of death. Dream is the main character in the comic books and her brother. Your Companion reminds me of her.
