[Caption] Eye in the sky. One of the directions given to us which struck me was to present it as "apocalyptic beauty under an eclipsed sun". I thought of how I could present that in a simple way - the first thought led me back to an earlier theme, abandoned city, but I do not want to do that and take the focus of the eclipsed sun away. I eventually went with just a visual of dried up trees and cracked ground. One of the ideas AI gave was to present the sun surrounded by looming dark clouds to form an eye in the sky. I initially wanted to present it in a much natural and realistic manner, but in the end I think having an eye looking down at an apocalyptic place is somewhat poetic as well, so I added a woman looking back at the eye for effect. I didn't really think the work stood much a chance against the more visually stunning works, so getting into top 20 (14 out of 57) was quite a surprise for me, but with fewer entries I guess the competition for the day was a bit less intense, which resulted in a better ranking.
