2026-Oct-28 : First Post of the day Gothic Rooster

Prompt

Arthur Rackham + Victor Hugo + dip-pen and brush ink on foxed rag paper, where Rackham's scratchy tapering nib line creates brittle hair-fine contours and hatched shadow through quick pressure changes, Hugo's flung ink and dry-brush drag produces smoky diluted washes and spattered streaks via loaded-brush smearing, and the paper's warm tooth infuses uneven absorption and bare reserved highlights. The fusion manifests as lamp-black and raw umber monochrome with one saturated madder note, transforming any subject through dense ink at contact edges and washes dissolving elsewhere. gothic rooster

About this image

This expressive black and white ink wash artwork depicts a regal gamefowl rooster, with flowing wispy tail feathers and a sharp spiky comb. Loose brush strokes, scattered ink splatters, and soft smudges sit against a warm cream off-white background, creating a bold dynamic traditional illustrative style. Sparse bare twig details ground the subject in a minimal rustic natural setting.
