About this image
This evocative black and white vintage street scene depicts a cold snowy winter day on a historic cobblestone city road. Bundled 19th century onlookers in heavy wool coats and hats gather beside a steamed bakery window, staring in at shelves of fresh bread and pastries as light snow falls. A lit gas lamp and horse-drawn carriage recede into the hazy distance, lending a somber, nostalgic historical mood.
