Entry in the The Love of Felines! theme on BudgetPixel.
Note: Sorry to anyone who saw this before. This is a corrected version. I fixed the speech pointer going to the smile and now it just goes to the Houyhnhnm Tea with Alice and the Cheshire Cat Special Guests: Lemuel Gulliver and the Master Houyhnhnm In Gulliver travels, the horse people the Houyhnhnm were a totally rational people. Their society had no word for lie as their people did not lie. They are a peaceful folk and don't understand war, politics or greed. They never got into fashion or decorating themselves as they find their own hide and mane beautiful. Gulliver is very impressed with their wonderful society. Then along comes Chessie. Chessie has a loose relationship with reality. Alice, having associated with Chessie since childhood, has a grasp on reality but accepts it if things get a bit fluid.

@panos (readding your comment as I uploaded the wrong picture -- replaced it with the fixed one.) -- Hah!! I think Master Houyhnhnm got Chesie a run for his money there with his answers! (God, I read that book at such an early age. I didn;t get Swift's dry-witted humour, of course)

indeed. I remember a part where, in the land of the giants (brob-something) the ladies took Gully, got naked and let him see their bodies and even ride their.. uhmm.. nipples. I imagine what would happen if my mom who bought it for me read that1 😅

You have to know that "Gullliver' was considered a novel for kids and I read it as such. Many things were beyond me, being a primary school kid then! 😄
CaylaCatz
Yeah, nowadays it's treated as a kids book with a lot of publishers making an abridged version cutting out the violent and crude parts unsuitable for kids
CaylaCatz
thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the tea party today. yeah, the horse is like the perfect "straight man" for the zany cat

@panos yeah, I have a hard time with Swift. In general, I have a hard time with satire as it's not my sense of humor.

Hmm... 10? 11? One of these. Well, if I was 12 or 13, it woyld REALLY stand out, but hormones had not kicked in yet 😄
panos
Heh! For some reason, the one I read, despite be published as a kid's book was strangelty unabridged 😃
CaylaCatz
That is unusual. The one I read as a kid was definitely abridged with stuff cut out
CaylaCatz
omg! no wonder that book stood out in your mind. How old were you? laughing.
