  well, if he stole part of the dragon's hoard, I'd say follow the dragon. They have a habit of being able to sniff their hoard and follow it if you steal it. A fair amount of them can sniff out gold even if it's not theirs. You can't lose a dragon ... or can you?

  I'd worried if they came back and the dragon they thought they has slain was missing...and yes, some dragons are also spellcasters and can polymorph at will CC, so if they find a wounded adventurer...
