Tearful female artist touches noses

About this image

This warm, sentimental fantasy illustration captures a tender emotional moment between a grieving artist and her deceased golden retriever Bailey, who steps out of a luminous Rainbow Bridge painting into the artist's cozy, paint-splattered home studio. Bathed in soft golden sunset light, the scene features meaningful pet loss memorial details including Bailey's engraved collar, custom dog portrait sketch, paw print blanket, and a sign reading "Good dogs never really leave", exploring themes of pet grief, enduring love, and spiritual connection with departed pets. The cozy art studio filled with paintbrushes, stacked art books, and a framed photo of the pair adds intimate, heartfelt warmth to the comforting, uplifting scene.

This whimsical magical realism artwork depicts a paint-splattered studio painter reaching out to touch a vibrant fantasy world spilling out of an ornate framed painting. The emerging enchanted realm features a princess in an embroidered billowing purple gown, a glowing iridescent phoenix, moonlit fairy tale castles, cascading waterfalls, and swirling stardust and purple blossoms that drift into the art studio. Warm candlelight from the studio contrasts with cool cosmic purple and blue tones, capturing the magical moment where imagination and creation come to life.

Appreciate the feedback and yes, I do get it depends on what it's up against. I guess what I'm really trying to figure out is if I made the wrong choice with what I submitted or if neither was what voters wanted to see. Not that it matters, but I can't help but play this game in my head.

Largely yes, it is still dependent on which piece it is up against. There are some that I really like that I will vote for whenever they come up. Both of these will win most but not all.

I am surprised that your actual submission was so low in ELO - I saw it once and voted. Not sure how it lost the votes.

I'm sorry to hear it isn't doing well. I voted for yours twice, but I think the one with the dog would have done better.

I knew it wasn't fantastic. Paintings coming alive is actually something I really don't like. But sub 1500 surprised me.

Yes, I would have over many I saw, especially the ones with the typical woman leaving the painting

Appreciate the votes and the feedback. I definitely got hung up on the hidden world part.

• @crabmouse · Sep 14, 2026

I would have voted for it and it would have made me sad.

• @Sealine · Sep 14, 2026

Appreciate it! Kinda wishing I had stayed with the first in hindsight 😅

If I had seen either, I would have voted for them!
