Guess I made the wrong decision of focusing too much on the effect of making the tattoo come alive that I completely forgot about putting a meaningful narrative or accompanying the tattoo with a beautiful scenery/ protagonist, which would have likely won more votes. A little disappointed that it was placed 24 out of 52 entries, but at least it was in the upper half of the rankings among many of the visually stunning pieces (though I wished the top 10 wasn't so dominated by naked back ladies and had a little more variety).

I liked your image and the way it's coming off skin instead of ripping out of the body. I definitely would have put yours in top 10 over several that made it. As for the naked back woman, personally, I usually create a woman because I am one and they do better in challenges. Here, my idea was meditation and a peacefulness with nature that allows her dragon tattoo to come to life. The most logical place and biggest surface area of a woman for a readable tattoo is her back so that's why I chose it. I'm also not surprised many others did too.

I picked this. I think it was one of the better images I saw of tattoo coming to life. But competing with mass appeal is tough, as you say the top 10 was so dominated. And IMHO the crux of this challenge was the transformation of 2D becoming 3D. Now I think of it a 2D becoming 3D challenge with no further description or sample image would produce a far more interesting set of submissions. But as I said on mine (which did far worse than yours) that 2D to 3D is quite a challenge, not something I have mastered.
