bounty hunter's light cleansing fear, anger, revenge heaven's road opens ©2026 In the Ring, the ghost was killed and they were left with an unending voracious hunger for revenge against all living beings. But in the end, they were wronged first. So in my story, my bountyhunter collects rewards if he releases the monster ghosts who kill from their fears and anger. His magical lantern gives them understanding and opens them back up to who they might have become in a parallel kinder world. So their true spirit is pulled away from their anger which blows away in the wind. If he succeeds, the ghost moves onto a happier plane and leaves earth. And he will be rewarded. Because the peaceful soul is his bounty. If he fails, if the ghost holds onto their anger and fear. Then they fight. He will destroy the vengeful ghost or the ghost will destroy him. If he has to fight, he has a runic knife that glows cyan and eats dark souls. The knife itself is a dark thing and hungers for souls. He also has a gun with bullets carved with runes. The gun offers a cleaner death for the angry soul but it's rare he has the time to draw it. He has to get too close for the lamp to finish purifying a soul. He himself is already dead, killed the first time by a vengeful ghost before another bounty hunter destroyed that ghost. Like others he was trained by a select group. He will fight until his second and final death. He has chosen to do this work because of a prophecy that saving the right monster and sending them on will save his daughter. He doesn't know he already saved her. The second ghost he saved, a dozen years ago, was the one who would have taken her. HIs daughter is an angry young woman. She doesn't know why her father disappeared when she was 10. She doesn't know he died. She doesn't know he lives to save her.
