[Two men in wet trench coats duel with clashing red and green umbrellas on a rain-soaked night city street, water splashin...
This dramatic neo-noir cinematic artwork depicts two glowering suited figures in long wet trench coats facing off in an umbrella battle on a flooded downtown city street at night. The scene uses a mostly monochrome black and white palette with striking selective color on the clashing red and green umbrellas, as flying rain droplets and water splashes erupt where the two weapons meet. Glowing distant streetlights reflect off the wet pavement, amplifying the gritty, high-stakes, atmospheric urban thriller mood of the action scene.

"Caught in the rain, caught in the heat of action." When I saw the challenge, I knew that many would likely be presenting visuals of people taking shelter under umbrellas or people standing/crying under the rain, so I was thinking about how I could present something different. I thought about the famous raining scenes that I have come across before, and somehow the final battle of Neo vs Agent Smith in The Matrix Revolutions came to mind. A brawl under the rain would be something refreshing to see, so I decided on a fight scene between the two. I initially wanted to do a fist fight, but later I experimented with adding umbrellas as weapons and immediately liked it better. To amplify the rain effect, I pivoted it to one party using the umbrellas as a spear and the other blocking it using the umbrella as a shield, resulting in a large water splash from the impact. While concepts that deviate too much from what the majority would do usually end up at the lower end of the rankings, but was still hoping that I could end up on the higher end. End up 15th among 72 entries, and it was a result I am happy with.
