The Trolley Problem

Entry in the Unexpected Portal challenge.

About this image

This stunning surreal steampunk concept art depicts a polished vintage wood and brass steam tram paused on rain-dampened cobblestone tracks in a dense Victorian era city. A jagged, shattering dimensional portal tears open the street ahead, revealing a bright otherworldly landscape of rolling green valleys, floating islands, and distant snow-capped mountains under a golden sunset. The mood blends gritty industrial steampunk aesthetic with magical fantasy worldbuilding, with wispy steam, moody cloudy skies, and detailed historic storefronts lining both sides of the city street.
