About this image

This striking impasto-style landscape painting depicts a dramatic, awe-inspiring tropical natural disaster scene: two Southeast Asian fishermen in a traditional outrigger paraw boat watch an erupting volcano, with glowing lava flows and fiery volcanic lightning cutting through an ash plume, set against a vivid sunset that paints the ocean in warm golds and oranges. The thick, textured brushwork amplifies the tense, reverent mood, blending rich fiery reds, sunset golds, and deep moody ocean blues to highlight the raw power of the natural event and the quiet contemplation of the local observers.
