Uh huh. This is Coyote. Sometimes he's a friend of mine. You do know who Coyote is, don't you? (Shows up in DeLint books as Cody, in Patricia Briggs as Coyote but was also Joe Old Coyote for a time, I forget who else. chaotic Native American trickster god. Notice the "sometimes" in her conversation. That's cuz he's chaotic, unpredictable but usually on the side of good in a lot of stories. The chaos helps people to learn something. It's like you have to break you old patterns to grow. But his myth varies a lot from tribe to tribe so depends on the tribe. Both DeLint and Briggs leaned into the Navajo myths, I think. Different than Loki. So given all that. ... ) Coyote's eyes glow and the wizard finds himself on a cargo ship with a Kraken emerging out of the sea. They sorely need the wizard's help!

Yeah, that's why I mentioned Loki. I figured you'd be more familiar with him. The thing with Coyote tho is he varies by tribe. So I said Navaho because I've at least read a few Navaho tales. Plus I really like Briggs and DeLint. DeLint is getting hard to find. I should've started collecting his books long ago from thrift stores but they were always at the library and now suddenly, poof! None. I can still request them thru ILL tho. (interlibrary loan, city/town libraries loan books to other libraries. I'm reading one from Colorado now)

He stopped publishing for a few years because his wife was very sick. She got a fatal virus from a tick! But it looks like December he published for the first time in 3 years so I'll request my library buy it. Cool that you read on Coyote.

....oh, MAN!!! Trickster Gods.... (Yes, I know about Trickster Coyote - haven't read those books. The Trickster is one of Carl Jung's Archetypes. It can be found in mythologies aroynd the world - Loki is considered the Norse Trickster god)
