you are wellcome, David. I have read, it must be, 10 to 12 of his books, most of them decades back, but he has written a great many! The fun of it was that his attitudes ran along the whole political spectrum -something that, to me, speaks of a really independed, not label-friendly, spirit But, everybody who applies a label to himself hated him for when expressing those of his attitudes he didn't agree with. Stranger In a Strange land, Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress are famous, mostly political books that have very different standpoints in them (And theay are a magnet for people with the same opinions in them, even today)

antipathy of those critics of Heinlein's political opinions that was behind all these. They just did not have the sincerity to admit it. Everybody has his opinions and of course these influence our appreciations of a creation but we must be honest to ourselves and to others about it. Another issu I would like to comment on, is that in the publishing wolrd of today, you just can't find Heinlein and many, many other authors of earlier years. Apart for two or three of his MANY books, everything is out of print. so, I guess if I wanted to buy "Friday" I wouldn't find it....

Thanks for such a thoughtful comment. I think I read only three and that would be 40 years ago viz Stranger in a Strange Land (should get a copy of that), Friday, and Starship Trooper. And as per the little bio I think he was perhaps a little too liberal in some of his attitudes.
