If it's a real word that people use and I didn't make up on the fly, I think it's fair game. So while parasolpunk is a niche word for a very specific fantasy/scifi genre, I think it's fair game. Furpunk while it works great in a prompt, I would not use in a word-limited challenge since I made it up. But using -punk words has it's downfalls as many are strongly associated with steampunk or cyberpunk so you might get clockwork or neon lights when you don't want them. And there's AI understanding as well. with newer words in general, new AI models are more likely to know/understand their actual meaning. The other AI models will extrapolate the meaning of the word based on word parts or sentence structure or ignore it entirely. AI will guess at work meanings. that guess might come out really wrong, lol. I'm getting a feel for models which know, guess or ignore. Traditional words are best for control because the AI's understanding and your understanding of the word is likely to align
That's fun. I use them that way myself, more as adjectives rather than adverbs. The "stonepunk woman" came out wearing stone -- stone kneepads??? So I changed it to "furpunk cavewoman" but I still had stonepunk for the place adj. I dont' think "furpunk" exists but it worked, she was wearing furs. I didn't want to say "cavewoman wearing furs" as that was 3 words and I was right at my 30 word limit. I've a feeling this might come in handy for paulie's 20 word prompt challenges, lol.
Like I said, I don't makeup words for the one-word, three-word or 20-word prompt challenges. I do, however, have a high preference for unusual words. I also vote higher on people who use unusual words because they teach me a new word so I get extra value.
Very cool , cracking up. Fun alternative universe look. I love the last one. The guy is hilarious. Reminds me of the Johnny Cash song "A Boy named Sue." Did you do a mashup of barbarianpunk and lacepunk?
@DavidP ·
Thanks. That was indeed the mashup. Decided for this Challenge to try and include two of the listed punk words and use them as adjectives/adverbs plus an artist
@DavidP ·
That all makes sense. I have enough challenge using common or garden words in those 20 BAP challenges, to worry about making up words 🤣
I haven't done mine yet. tomorrow with the freebie NC I will. the rhyming ones ae fun but harder. thank goodness for rhymezone!
@DavidP ·
Never thought of that - yes - though maybe close to the ine of playing games to sneak in extra words 🤣
@DavidP ·
rhymezone? I must check that out - never heard of it

The 20 word was fun again this morning.
