And pinball before that --- When I got a little oler and into my 20s it was games like Police Quest, Space Quest. They were so cool at the time --- And I can really date myself and say that perhaps my first enounter with a computer, that set me on my way, was playing Collossal Cave at the end of a school visit to a local university.

Ha!! Man, I have not thoguht about these games for YEARS! Thank you!!! (later on, I was hooked to the Puzzle-type Adventure games - and am stiil, today! The begining for me was Zork:Nemesis, then Myst (father of the genre) and all its sequels and the other great series: Syberia, Longest Journey etc.

Exactly. The win-lose fixed mindset of competition, instilled in all the sports, prizes etc. I get 'the why' but keeping that healthy is a challenge. And these days, now sport is a business as well as a competitiion, the problems with win at all costs are rife - cheating, drugging, etc --- but I digress

I think I may have played Myst. If my memory is correct it was somewhat steampunk? --- Don't know the others. Never really got into gaming. My son is hugely into it. I did play Skyrim and Obsidian on the PS4 when he had that. Now he is all PC.

yeah, it's a tough one. The problem with that competitiveness is politicians have it very very strongly or they wouldn't run in the first place. And that win at all costs can turn very dangerous at the top levels of governments in the world.

Oh how I LOVED visiting Las Vegas on a business trip when I worked and I got to see Michael Flattery River Dance I swear if you ever get a chance to see his dance moves and the ladies I was in AWWW the whole time watching the show

That is all I have done, I think twice if memory serves correctly. Did also play poker and 21 with friends a few more times. Also spent more time playing those arcade games, usually in cafe stores - I remember Space Invaders 😀

Wow! It looks like they did it. Now under the top 10, you can see everybody else. I don't thnk it's in order of winners but rather random. It's really great to see what everybody made.

I get that. I think a lot of us have been raised with the duality of win!/be competitive vs play nice/make everyone happy. So some of us see-saw between the two.

The Myst series certainly has a lot of steampunk aesthetic in it. Glad to hear about your son's PC-devotion considering games. I, also have nothing to do with consoles
