Friday: A-E: Cinderella Cinderella Reimagined: A vengeful Cinderella finds her late father's sword and heads for the ball after her stepsisters shredded her handcrafted ballgown while she was wearing it. She'd spent weeks saving fabric pieces, threads and sewing but in 5 minutes, her stepsisters destroyed her handiwork. She'd been good. Never complaining even when they had her cleaning and sweeping out the fireplaces and chimneys in her own father's house. But enough is enough. Two stepsisters are going down. From Rhodopis (Greece, 1st century BC) and Ye Xian (China, 9th Century) to Cendrillon (Perrault, France, 1697) and Aschenputtel (Grimm Brothers, Germany, 1812), the mistreated character's nickname is usually based on cinder or ash. Rhodopis tho means rosy-faced. Strabo (died c 24AD) wrote an eagle stole her slipper while the slavegirl/courtesan (varies) was bathing and flew to Memphis (the ancient capital of Lower Egypt) to drop the sandal onto the Pharaoh's lap. The Pharaoh sent searchers to find the sandal owner and had her brought to him and so she became his wife. 1 grok, 2 flux 2 pro, 3 grok, 4 flux 2 pro (this last one I think has her stepsisters ghost now doomed to clean the house instead of Cinderella)

lol, yeah, I never understood how she stayed so patient. Not to say you should get all stabby but maybe take a stand here and there. If you like fairytales or reimagining them, add the link to the image you make on it on the fairtytale challenge blog post. I'd love to see it

Laughing, I just had a hard time with the heroine of the story being a doormat. But maybe the fairy godmother will appear and give her a new dress and that will appease her before she shows up at the ball to lop off heads.

Yay! I'm glad you liked her. I need to come up with something for tomorrow starting with something between F-J. I might look at a table of contents on the Grimm's Fairy Tales. They have some good ones.
