About this image

A fantasy steampunk scene shows a woman with vivid red hair in a Victorian-inspired outfit meticulously shaping a lit, skeletal metal automaton. The warm amber lighting, brass tools, and smoky workshop create a moody, artisanal atmosphere that highlights craftsmanship and sci‑fi fantasy aesthetics.

Syberia is a series of 4 games up until now. 1 and 2 are essentialy a stroy in 2 parts. I played them together with an excellent friend (that is gone now 😞)when they came out (early 2000s) and was carried away by the wondrous, heart-warming imaginative story. Syberia 3 came out years later, 2017. I was hesitating to play them alone (too painful) but finally I trie it recently with my family (training the next generation of adventurers 😃Unfortuantely, it is hugely bug-ridden and after a point it stuck permanently - and the stupide designers gave it a 1 save only mode( !!!) so that you have to start all over... so, it's stuck there. There is a 4th gamr "The world Before' There is indeed a remaster this year. Since I don't know your taste in games I can't make promises, but it is one of MY all-time favourite games

Depending on your internet connection, have you tried GeForce Now? It streams games through your browser, the app, or even your mobile, and I’m pretty sure they still offer a free tier so you can test it out. There are also rumours that Nvidia might re‑release some of their older GPUs at more budget‑friendly prices, using lower‑grade DDR RAM that isn’t in high demand for AI workloads. If that happens, I imagine AMD will follow with similar moves. Otherwise, the best option might be to wait for the Steam Machine that’s supposedly still set to release this year. It’s expected to sell like hot cakes… I love its nickname is the “GabeCube” 🤣

thank you very much for the sentiments you express Biscuit! Yes, Syberia is what is called a Puzzle Game (back in the day we called them Adventure Games)I don't know about bugs in the remaster. My old dinosaur PC has still a 15yo yb RAM graphics card and it's getting to the point that a great part of new games don't run on it. Naturaly, remasters fall into that category. "Sigh" I have to give money I can' afford, I'm into RPGs too (cyberpunk I haven't played) especially fantasy party-based ones!)

  • @Biscuit ·

Yeah, fortunately I upgraded before the RAM price hike hit which is now nuking the market... Though atm might be worth waiting as to what is going to happen with the Steam Machine Valve is putting out. I think that's probably the way to go at this point for PC gaming... 🩶🩶🩶 Then again, with GTA 6 on the horizon consoles seem to be the way to go atm 😅

  • @Biscuit ·

Thanks Panos! I'm into RPGs like fallout, witcher, cyberpunk. I think syberia is a puzzle game? I'll have a look into it and hopefully the remaster isn't a buggy mess. I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but am happy you got to try rekindle the adventure with your family 😊🩶🩶

  • @panos ·

Whoa!! Thanx dor all that info, Biscuit!! I admit most of that is over my head 🤣 Anyway, no immediate plans for upgrading the old dinosaur. If all goes normally, I plan for next year

  • @Biscuit ·

You're welcome 😊 Main reason for suggesting Geforce Now is to enable you to play Cyberpunk at decent settings. Plus you can sync up your games from Steam etc on it 🩶🩶

  • @panos ·

You are wellcome! I have a soft spot for automatons, ever since meeting Oscar in the Syberia games, decades ago....

  • @Biscuit ·

I haven't played it but I think there was a remaster of it released last year? It worth checking out?

  • @panos ·

@Biscuit well, a 6 or 8 gb VRAM card would do excellently for me. And I'm a PC die-hard. No consoles
