Monday: The Tornados - Telstar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxyN3b1bs-w ------------------------------------------------------ Again needed research to find the band and then a song. And when I finally listened to the song it was one I knew well but could not have told you either the band performing it or the sng name. ------------------------------------------------------- Song challenge blog https://budgetpixel.com/blog/weather-song-challenge-february-19-24-2026

Very cool image! Love that satellite in space and the intricate detailing inside fo it. I don't think I've heard the Tornados. I'm surprised they were session musicians who charted on their own with Telstar. Wasn't it rare for an instrumental to chart to #1 singles in the UK (or anywhere else for that matter)?

I don't know them either. But then most of my radio listening was in the 80s to headsets at work on machines and I'd probably just change channels if there were no words or commercials. Fast songs with words made the time go faster at work back then

Thanks, I think so, though maybe at that time it was more common than today. Think of the Shadows, and some of the west coast surf music in the 60s
