The Woman in the Music Dress

As many of my early images came to be, this image started from a YoWorld avatar. The game had a book page dress and book page butterflies. I'm not proud of this avatar (I promise I got much better at them) but this is the avatar that inspired the image. I began my AI journey recreating images of my favorite avatars. On the site I began with, I wrote one of my first prompts (without AI describing the avatar). I decided to focus on the music notes of the pink butterfly for a music theme. The prompt was: Stunning light skin woman with black wavy hair. She is wearing a gown made of fabric that looks like aged sheet music. It has a light brown sepia tone, with black staffs and notes. The gown has an asymmetrical design with a ruched top, one ruched strap and a full skirt. She has on black heels and golden music note earrings. Around her are several stylized butterflies with wings that appear to be made of sheet music in colors that complement the dress. Background is a light teal with light noise. Swirling darker teal border. I ran it though that site's top model with a surreal filter. Among the images with the deformities that were common, I found one image I loved. When I came to BP, I wanted very much to recreate this image here. It was not easy. Multiple models attempted, advice asked and I was only moderately happy. Flux pro 1.1 gave me the one I was most happy with at the time. At the same time, @justrob saw the image, took the inspiration and ran with it in several versions. This is one of his magnificent creations. One of the variations even made an appearance on another popular site and I began to see more versions pop up. Below is one of Rob's creations. Not fully happy with mine, I put the image on the backburner for a while. I decided to dust off the prompt when GPT came around. Even my favorite trusty model of all time was doing just okay in my eyes. This was one version. After a version popped up again today, I decided this prompt needed a rewrite. I'm still not sure this is my final answer, but this is where I will let it go for the time being. Again. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

@Sealine that is a great way of describing it. Sometimes when I am walking I think about a chess game and position. I kind of know where the pieces are, can almost see them but not. It is weird. I often wonder what it would be like to shut my eyes and actually see a vivid image. And play those games of 'make it smaller', 'make it black and white' etc that are so powerful in visualisation exercises. AI has certainly removed any barriers that may have existed to people creating digital art. There remains a skill involved but very different. ANd now I am using (and coming to make peace that it is not 'cheating') Claude.ai in a collaborative or at least interactive way to create the prompts. Followed that dialgue approach to create the song series now.

Thanks for sharing, with vulnerability and insight, Sealine. Some wonderful images as you evolved. For me as viewer, many in which I can't see any flaw at all, wonderful as-is. But get that not quite what you imagine. I think I may be a little like you in the sense of I have an idea in my head, but being aphantasic can't see it to describe it. I just have a sense. Where I am different is my engagement with GAI txt2img is more like a continuous flow. I seldom come back to something from the past, seldom revisit to improve. The exception being the lady Red sitting at her cafe table enjoying a coffee, but that is more a beloved subject and enjoy re-styling her. Thanks again, for sharing and your amazing art works

It's fun seeing how an image evolves and also how sometimes you just have to wait for the AI to evolve enough to match our image while we polish our prompting skills. People think that creating AI images is easy and it is, especially if you don't have a clear vision in your mind. But once you start wanting to your own visions into reality, the ballgame changes because it's no longer about making anything but about making that one specific idea. I liked that your blog post showed both the ease of making a lovely image close to your idea but also the struggle as you work to creating an image that captures your specific vision.

your process is so different then mine. For me - the image is a validation that I wrote a good prompt. The prompt is the art. (for me). As my prompt 'template' evolves i will dig up old prompts and see how they play with the new models. But i don't evolve the images. I write a prompt describing what i want to see. And see how it does. This was fascinating to see how you remember. How you evolve. Bravo!

Exactly! I believe we are very alike in that sense. I once heard it described as a computer with the monitor off. I know the information/idea but there is no visual component until AI creates it for me. AI has been a game changer for me in finding a creative side to myself.

Thank you very much for sharing what you liked. For me, the struggle can be I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for until I see it. But I do know when it isn’t right.

Beautiful. Not familiar with the base you referenced, but I've dabbled in musical themes. Might need to dust those prompts off LOL
