The Journey of a Prompt

Something I tend to do from time to time is revisit old prompts. Whether it is to bring a creation from another platform to BudgetPixel, try a new style or technique, run in another model or modify it a little, the results can elevate our creations. In this blog, I want to explore a creation and how it has evolved over my short time in AI. The pinup girl and the jukebox was first created in August 2025 on PicLumen using their basic art model with a pop art style filter. The prompt was simple, " Illustrations of a vintage 1950s pinup girl. She is wearing cuffed denim jeans, red and white plaid button down shirt, red high heels. Her blonde hair is styled up with a red bandana. Next to a jukebox. Voluptuous. Pin up girl pose." The resulting image: I like the image so I decided to spend the credits on their premium 'primo' model, same prompt. The results were underwhelming, four images all with miniature jukeboxes. This was the largest 'jukebox' I could get. The prompt went on the backburner after that. In October, MidJourney was released on the platform. I had picked up a few buzz words and pop art had lost some allure, so I revised the prompt and used their poster style. The new prompt was, "Illustrations of a glamourous vintage retro 1950s girl. She is wearing cuffed denim jeans, short sleeved red and white plaid button down shirt, and red high heels. Her blonde hair is styled up with a red bandana. Posing next to a jukebox in a vintage diner. Saturated vibrant colors. High contrast. Masterpiece." The result was an improvement. It got shelved again. I found my way here to BudgetPixel (my new AI home, yay!). After the release of GPT-image-1.5, I started trying a lot of older prompts. Inspired by some pinups shared on the social feed, I went searching for the prompt and let GPT have a try. The prompt was tweaked slightly to add a little more detail. "Illustration of a glamourous vintage retro 1950s girl. She is wearing cuffed denim jeans with a red leather belt, short sleeved red and white plaid button down shirt, and red high heels. Her blonde hair is styled up with a red bandana. Posing next to a large jukebox in a vintage diner with a checkerboard floor and teal-colored walls with light noise. Saturated vibrant colors. High contrast. Masterpiece." Now I'm getting somewhere! The very next day @justrob posted his "SodaMaster" style. I decided to add his style to the front of my prompt and decided she really should be in shorts. GPT-image-1.5 will not accept artist names so I had to abbreviate his style. The final prompt was, "A fusion of vintage 1940s soda machine art where baroque dramatic lighting techniques meet bold commercial advertising aesthetics. Rich, dark underpainting enhanced with luminous highlights creates depth, while applying pin-up style color palettes and decorative borders reminiscent of vintage Coca-Cola machines. Chiaroscuro shadows blend with flat commercial color blocks, ornate scrollwork details merge with period typography styling, and creamy smooth color transitions meet crisp advertising graphics. This technique applies old master painting sophistication with retro commercial art's vibrant appeal and decorative flourishes, preserving all original subjects and settings while enhancing them with both classical depth and nostalgic charm. It's not something I do often because my success rate is low. However, she was successfully brought to life dancing using the above as a reference image Kling -v2.1-standard. I have taken to using AI to help write my prompts for video to stand a better chance of success.
