Sooooo Many Challenges

I am continuing to run so many challenges over on Night Cafe. I think I have about 100 different ones. I love seeing all of the different art, but man! People are petty with the voting. I have seen some beautiful art get downvoted. I heard that there is a group that join all the big challenges and upvote their friends. I personally haven't seen it, or at least I don't think I have, but a few others who run challenges have talked about it. I know of at least one host who cancelled all of their games because their work got downvoted. Seems excessive, but I get the frustration. I feel like every since NC made the changes to their credits and upped the prices, the community there became... hostile. Maybe it's just me?

I think some hosts, after awhile because they see so many pictures, push their images to be more creative. Creative and/or unexpected doesn't do well except on rare occasion. Think about it. Some people go to an art gallery and think the stuff is dumb but you show them a pretty postcard and they think that is great art. Pretty postcards are made and sold because they appeal to the most number of people. You have to have a thick skin to push yourself beyond the pretty postcard stage. Not just in doing pretty postcards, but to push yourself to introduce yourself to a wider variety of images, art forms, art history, art techniques until you start appreciating more than pretty. Or you get so inundated with images, that anything unconventional starts to appeal because the rest run together. I think that happens with NC challenges hosts and Flickr group hosts. There is always new people coming into AI art so I think challenge votes stay at the pretty stage because people start dropping out of challenges when they want to do something different than conventional.

Cheating exists. GPT use in a LoRA challenge exist. Under 60 images, cheating groups can win. Enough voters make cheating irrelevant. In big challenges with enough voters, a cheating group won't matter. More than 1 group cancel each other out. The bigger problem is people vote what is conventionally good so lately the top 10% is GPT. A great artistic or unique image is unlikely to win. Still if you look at the bottom ones, they are off-theme or misunderstood ones. For example. Theme: Lake at Day. Image is an obvious day but yellow skies using amazing new art techniques. It's unlikely to place in the top 10. The good interesting ones start showing up around the top 15%. Someone who does a daylight sky at a lake on another planet ends up on the bottom as people assume a black sky and white sun must be night. A prompt-based or LoRA challenge has to have them in the title as that's all voters can see. I'll vote 1 or 2 if I see text titles in an emoji challenge. 80% or more do not cheat

They think it was a severe allergy to something. He's ok but will be there a few days for monitoring. For your challenge, go to the last game played, and click "play again" this will open the chat room. Open a new tab from that last game then copy and paste the information into your play again tab.. set whether you want it ranked or voting, then set a launch date and how many days it will be open and how many days for voting. Then launch the challenge. I will get screen shots and tag you with a walk through. I'm on my phone right now, but will get my lazy butt up and do that and tag you.

@anyafoxx I have at times been really frustrated by challenge voting. All the reasons that @CaylaCatz described. And I think the same applies here in the Daily Challenge. I am also sure that some people will deliberately vote or pick in ways they think will improve chances of their image doing better. It is also a challenge when you know who posted the entry and they are a friend, can be tough to be objective then. Organised groups influencing challenges, don't know about that.

Anya, can you tell me how to do a challenge. at NC. I think paulie putme in charge of his emoji challenge but we didn't manage to touch base. I see he made me host on the last emoji chat but I don't know what to do next. It's time to put together the challenge and tell people but I've never done one so I'm floundeirng. Is there someplace with instructions?

I can understand there. Plus ER is not exactly a calming place. I hope he got a quiet room to himself at least. If you don't wht is causing the problem, I hope when they run their tests, they'll find the cause. If you do know what's causing the problem, I hope what they do fixes things so he will be healthier and can go home soon.

Big challenges don't even show you everything. You'd have to be really dedicated to find the entries you want to vote up. Just a rumour I have heard, and one host cancelling all of their games, some mid vote, because their work was downvoted. My work gets downvoted all the time lol!

I agree. I'm always trying to push out new challenges that break the mold. I just launched three new ones. I like to see people push themselves out of their comfort zone.
