More Owls
By Anya Sylver Foxx
I wound up doing two more owls of light videos. Both will release later this year despite already being completed. The third one was a special production for my husband who was in the hospital when i wrote and animated it. He is suffering from some long terms effects of what he did earlier this year. I don't try to hide it because I don't think it's talked about enough: Self harm My husband did the absolute unthinkable on Jan. 2nd and tried to unalive himself by setting himself on fire. It was horrific. I have written a lot of songs about how I felt about it. He spent 2 months in critical care, had to have 17 transfusions, several skin grafts, and actually did die. They were able to save him by some miracle. It was during that time I released "The Owls of Light", ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_AvENP5Dlk ) which I was working on when he did that to himself. He loves owls, and I felt the urge to finish it even if he passed away It's why I always remind people to seek help if they feel like they need to unalive themselves. Every single time I listen to that song, I always cry for so many reasons. It's a great song IMO, but it was also so hard to power through all those emotions of wondering if I was going to get THAT call. The second owls of light video was going to be the last owl one, but then he had to spend a few days in the hospital for anaphylaxis (we don't know what caused it), so i went ahead and banged out another owls of light video for him. I am begging anyone who reads this, please never think that you need to hurt yourself. I promise it's not worth it. My husband is disfigured forever, and deeply regrets what he did. Please call 988 in the USA if you feel like you need to end it all. I've been there, I get it. I might even do an Owls of Light VI for him at some point, because I am so grateful that he lived. I write my music and make the videos for my kids and for him. If anyone else can enjoy them, and it makes someone smile, then it was worth it, even if they aren't the best animations.
