Discovering Inspiration Everywhere

Where do our ideas for images come from? Inspiration is quite literally all around us. That song on the radio, book we read, activity we did, another's image we just viewed, an object in front of us, a conversation we had, the list is endless. In this article, I want to explore the inspiration behind a few of my images. For this first image, I was on my way to work when there was an advertisement on the radio for a bioluminescent kayak tour under the stars. When I got home, I prompted it, but the result wasn't as exciting as I had hoped. That's when I leaned into the fantasy aspect, added a waterfall, bioluminescent plants and a cosmic night sky. I ran it through several different models as well. But it all started with a radio ad. The next set of images were both inspired by Wednesday (TV show). Both of these scenes struck me as something I wanted to create. I didn't want a photorealistic recreation of the scene, so style and interpretation played a role. If you've seen season 2 of Wednesday, you may have already know what these were inspired by. The next image was inspired by a post from @Justrob on his BudgetPixel feed. He posted a blonde in a purple sweater dress. I wanted to create an image with a brunette in a sweater dress, because I love purple and I'm a brunette. I didn't want to just create his image with a different color hair, so I decided to feature four unique girls in jewel tone sweater dresses to complement each of them. Then I put them on the cover of Vogue. Last one for this post was inspired by the song "Sex and Candy" that I again heard on my way to work. I hadn't heard the song in a long time and found some of the lyrics intriguing. For the image, I focused on words in the lyrics for key elements: hanging around downtown, there she was, double cherry pie, disco superfly. Once I had the image I liked, I decided to give it the distressed look. There is also a NSWF version I will post on my feed. Thank you for taking the time to read. If this seems to go over well, I will share some more images and inspirations in the future. Please share in the comments some of the things that have inspired your creations!
