Catwalk: Walking in the Historic Recoleta Cemetery near Luz María García Velloso's tomb on Monday. Where would you like to walk tomorrow? Recoleta Cemetery (Buenos Aires, Argentina): Known as the "City of the Dead," this 13-acre site features thousands of ornate Neoclassical and Gothic mausoleums—including the resting place of Eva Perón and the legendary phantom of La Dama de Blanco (The Lady in White). According to popular folklore, a young man encountered a grieving, white-clad woman near the Recoleta Cemetery, took her for coffee at the nearby La Biela (then called La Veredita), and lent her his jacket. Later, the man allegedly found his coffee-stained jacket draped over Luz María García Velloso's marble sculpture in the Recoleta Cemetery.

About this image

This whimsical spooky 3D digital art features two furry anthropomorphic characters, a white cat and grey rabbit, dressed in trench coats as ghost hunters exploring a misty Victorian graveyard at twilight. The cozy eerie mood includes soft purple dusk lighting, glowing candle accents, wet cobblestone paths, and a faint ghostly apparition lingering in the foggy background. The detailed rendering showcases ornate stone mausoleums, white lily offerings, and atmospheric vintage cemetery architecture.

I know; in the cemetery in my city, there’s an ossuary. After a certain amount of time, they empty the burial niches and dump the remains into a sort of common pit. When I was a kid, I used to go with my mother, aunts, and cousins to visit my grandmother’s grave. One of my older cousins would open the lid—a metal door set into the ground—and inside, you’d see piles of bones like mountains. And these weren’t clean, like the ones you see in cathedrals or catacombs; they were covered in all sorts of things—bits of flesh, skin, even clothing. There was no smell, but I remember it felt like looking through a window into hell—hah! Maybe that’s where I lost my marbles. Years later, they put a padlock on it, so you can’t see inside anymore.

Yes, but the curious thing is that I wasn’t afraid—even though I was young, maybe around 5 years old—I was aware that I was witnessing something unusual, something most people will never see (unless you become an undertaker, haha). At no point did I think about spirits, ghosts, or anything paranormal; I was simply looking at what we will all become one day.

Nice spooky plave. Is Bun Bun so scared that her ears flopped? 😃The phenomen of the ' Drosulites ' - a phantom army - at Frangokastello in Sfakia on the island of Crete, could be interesting ro them. They are apparitons in the sky, supposed to be the ghosts of greek warriors that fell in battle in the War of Independence.

oh wow! that sounds so scary! Forces you to face death because it's so close. It's kinda creepy that they weren't clean. makes it more spooky

  • @antares ·
