Scythian warriors Did you know? The Scythians were nomadic tribes who dominated the Eurasian steppe roughly from the 9th to the 2nd century BCE. Archaeological discoveries over the past decades have confirmed that in some burial sites about 20–30% of graves containing weapons belonged to females. Some skeletons also show signs of battle injuries, meaning these women likely fought in real combat. This strongly suggests that at least some women were active warriors, not symbolic figures. It is believed that the Greeks` saga of Amamzons dervied from their contacts to Scythian tribes.
