Brazilian satirical cartoon: an armed gang member asks a student

About this image

This satirical Brazilian political cartoon jokes about the brutal barriers to accessing top-tier public higher education in Brazil, equating acceptance to elite universities like USP (Universidade de São Paulo) to joining one of the country’s major organized crime groups. The illustration draws a humorous, stark contrast between an armed gang member listing notorious Brazilian factions PCC, CV, and MST, and a casually dressed student holding a drink, who responds only with the university acronym. The viral meme highlights the widespread struggle for young Brazilians to secure limited spots at prestigious public universities, framing the rare feat as unlikely as joining a major criminal organization.
