  Don't know much about German football other than that it is dominated by Bayern Munich. Much the same as how French is dominated by PSG. I wish those leagues were more competitive, more like the English Premier League, which albeit dominated recently by Man City as winners seems much tougher week in week out and top teams can have a tough battled against the lower teams. You are right about what makes a great team and it is more than just the best 11 players.

  On cricket T20 is a short form of the game. There is a longer form that takes an entire day and even longer that is played for up to 5 days --- That is a bummer. If you create over on NC you'll need to tag me as I don't browse much therem being mostly here. Can you still create the images on NC and post here as uploads or in blogs?

  That's true, and never looked at where the German players in the national team play their club football. Sure some may be in Spain, Italy or England. And of course the England captain has played the last couple of years for Bayern Munich, where he finally won some titles (was never happening with his club in England)

  I don't think it's about hunger, which might be the case for some players in both Brazil and Argentina, but only a few. It's the competitive spirit, and if you walk down the street, you see kids playing soccer everywhere these days. It's incredible that the Netherlands doesn't have a title.

  And I am sure those players just enjoyed the opportunity without worrying about medals etc. Much like many of the nations at this world cup. So if baseball is at the olympics then cricket could also be --- just checked, cricket returns to the olympics in a T20 format in 2028

  I can imagine. I think all the colonialism and empires leave a bad taste for all, including eventually the Falklands. Agree with you re Messi. The Messi Ronaldo era was something special. Like the Djokovic, Nada, Federer tennis era

  And if you look at the DC entry it was only recently that France won a couple and Spain one. Dominated for various reasons by Brazil, Germany and Argentina.

  Just points to a pyramid with abroad base and narrow top. But that a country like The Netherlands has never won it is surprising, or Belgium recently at their peak.

  And maybe I feel it a bit more personal being in South Africa and watching how many people end up playing for otehr countries in rugby, and cricket.

  Yup, so much to it. And of course there are the players in football (and other sports) born in one country and transferring to another.
