Altermodern, Anthotypes, Automatism, Art Brut all definitions from Google AI Aquatint is an intaglio printmaking technique, often used alongside traditional etching, that creates broad tonal areas and soft, watercolor-like washes Altermodern is a contemporary art term coined by curator Nicolas Bourriaud in 2009. It describes a 21st-century evolution of modernism suited to a globalized, digital era. It champions cultural hybridism, "mental nomadism," and a rejection of postmodern relativism in favor of creating new, globally interconnected narratives Anthotypes is a sustainable, 19th-century cameraless photographic process using plant-based emulsions (from petals, berries, or leaves) coated onto paper or fabric, which are then bleached by sunlight. Developed by Mary Somerville in 1842, this technique creates, eco-friendly, monochrome prints through long exposure times—ranging from hours to weeks—that fade over time, making them inherently ephemeral Automatism is a technique where artists suppress conscious control to access their unconscious mind, allowing the hand to move randomly or spontaneously to create, a practice central to Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism. Popularized in the 1920s by artists like Andre Masson and Max Ernst, this method includes automatic drawing, painting, and collage, often resulting in surreal, abstract, or fantastical imagery Art Brut is a 20th-century art movement coined by French artist Jean Dubuffet in 1945 to describe raw, untutored (self-taught) artistic creation untouched by cultural or mainstream influences MOdel: imagineart-2
