Lyrics: Put Down the Sword
🎶 LYRICS [Intro – Lute + Whistle] (light strum, distant stomping) Well they came for gold and glory… And left with something else entirely… [Verse 1 – Narrator] A band of orcs broke from the line With greed and hunger on their minds A temple stood beside the road They dreamed of cups and shining gold They kicked the doors and stormed inside With tusks and blades and roaring pride But there he stood, calm as the breeze A monkwizard at perfect ease [Orcs – Rough Chant] We loot! We steal! We take! We kill! Gold and blood to feed our will! [Verse 2 – Matthew / Narrator] “You’re welcome here,” the monk did say “If you come in peace… you’re free to stay.” They laughed and raised their blades on high “No peace for us—we live to fight!” He sighed as though they’d missed the point Like children loud and out of joint “I serve the Lord of field and grain— Lay down your swords… release your pain.” [Pre-Chorus – Build] They charged with fury, wild and loud— But something strange would stop that crowd… [Chorus – Magical Shift] PUT DOWN THE SWORD LET THE STILLNESS IN WHERE THE RAGE ONCE LIVED LET THE PEACE BEGIN NO NEED FOR WAR NO NEED TO FIGHT WHEN THE HEART TURNS SOFT IN THE GENTLE LIGHT PUT DOWN THE SWORD LET THE WORLD RESET— WHAT YOU CAME TO TAKE… YOU DON’T WANT YET [Verse 3 – Transformation] A glow of blue, a cooling wave Washed through the hall so calm, so brave The blades fell down, the shouting ceased The hunger died, the storm released They blinked and stared at empty hands Unsure just where or who they stand The fire inside had slipped away… And left behind… a quiet day [Orcs / Men – Confused] …Why do I feel like planting seeds? …What happened to my battle needs? …Do we… farm now? Is that… right? [Verse 4 – Light Humor] No thirst for ale, no rage to burn Just thoughts of soil and things to learn A field, a crop, a simple life Instead of endless, pointless strife They looked at him, then looked ahead “Go back?” meant certain death instead “Go on?” meant peace, though strange and new… And none of them quite knew what to do [Chorus – Warmer, Fuller] PUT DOWN THE SWORD LET THE STILLNESS GROW THERE’S A DIFFERENT PATH THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW FROM HANDS OF WAR TO HANDS THAT HEAL THERE’S A BETTER LIFE THAN THE BLADE AND STEEL PUT DOWN THE SWORD LET THE OLD YOU GO— WHAT YOU came to take… Wasn’t gold… but soul [Bridge – Gentle / Reflective] (soft harp + fiddle) Sometimes the fight just fades away Sometimes the heart just wants to stay In quiet fields beneath the sun Where life begins… instead of ends… [Final Chorus – Peaceful Ensemble] PUT DOWN THE SWORD LET THE STORY CHANGE FROM A PATH OF WAR TO A WIDER RANGE NO NEED FOR FEAR NO NEED FOR PAIN WHEN THE HANDS ONCE WILD CAN NOW SOW GRAIN PUT DOWN THE SWORD LET THE NEW LIFE START— THE GREATEST TREASURE… IS A PEACEFUL HEART [Outro – Soft Whistle + Lute] (light breeze, gentle strum) They came for gold… But found a field instead…
