⚔️ Gaelstrom and Emlyn respond to Red and Brunhilde's SOS ( https://budgetpixel.com/blog/red-brunhildes-sos ), a community blog created by @CaylaCatz. ⚔️ Instead of fighting their way in from the outside, Emlyn uses magic to portal directly onto the battlefield. Because why walk when you can teleport? 😉

@panos . You're right. It wasn't Marvel but DC that triggered the multiverse concept. In 1961 Flash #123 they explained Barry Allen (Earth One Flash) who's comic book hero Jay Garrick's Flash existed on Earth Two. It was not called multiverse at that time. In 1963, Moorcook took an 1895 word "multiverse" and changed it's meaning to the parallel realities meaning we use today. OED backtracks the modern use of the word to a single sentence in his 1963 short story: "Jewelled, the multiverse spread around..." Initially DC and Marvel called Earth 2 or Bizarro world called alternative/parallel worlds/timelines/realities/universes. Comics had a problem resolving the changes in superheroes from 1930s to 1960s so they made parallel worlds. Even HG Wells did alternative timelines. I must say it is convenient that Moorcock transformed an obscure 1895 philosophy word into a very useful modern concept. Multiverse is much easier to say than the variety of word combos that had gone before.
laughing, Marvel did not know what it did when it created the multiverse! It's a good idea tho. The idea that librarians can teleport directly to the Great Libraries. The last fantasy book I read had designated portals in the major cities that only librarians can use. A teleportation spell gives much more freedom to independent researchers and librarians. Plus if you build in the multiverse concept, you can teleport to other realms if you have a high enough skill level. I like this idea a lot! Can you tell? laughing

sorry to barge in here, Cayla and FR, but I want to make a correction: Marvel definitely did NOT create the Multiverse. I don't know about earlier literary versions, nut the MV is up-and-running (and playing a vital role) In Michael Moorcock's Fantasy & Science Fiction books from the Mid-1960s. that's where I first encountered the term
Very cool! And Emlyn is growing fast in her skills. Teleporting spells are awesome.

Teleporting spells? TELEPORTING SPELLS??!!!!! Damned Fairy!!!!!!

@CaylaCatz Wow! Impressive research!! The few that I have to add to all that, that you may finf of interest, is that the multivers played - and plays a central role in Moorcock's bofy of work, joining very different books as stories that occur in different brabches of the Multiverse. Moreso, he has the concept (I have not encountered it anywhere else) that most of his heroes (Elric, Hawkmoon, Jerry Cornelious etc.) are incarnations of one soul called "The Eternal Champion" NOT the same guy in alternate realities (e.g Panos in different timelaines) these are discrete people with theiir own identites and names - and yet, still connected as iterations of the Eternal Champion. {In comics, thing in the DC Universe had become so complicated and confusing with Earths -1 to -100 ...and so on, that at the early '80s they were forced to destrroy this whole multiverse in one of the most famous epic storylines in comics "Crisis In Infinite Eaarths" (And later, they built it up, again 😃)

Nope, farmer is OK, Adrianna, thst lady in red got him out, safe and sound. As he turned to thank her, she showed him her teeth (she's a vampire) and he fainted. She foinds this hilarious. (From what I hear from my Big Cousin, vampire ladies just love to do this)
wow! I love that reasoning. I'm going to have to use that in my other story as she's seeking to start saving books on modern Earth. Except she's here. Well here in the future, like the 1800s, lol. But her quest is the library stuff.
look at what FaerieRealm answered to my comment. Emlyn needs it for her work. I thought you knew the lesser teleportation spells. You do have the first three grimoires! Can you teleport a kraken yet? I know that's your dream spell. Maybe practice on an orc!
@panos ·
Oh, I know the lesser spells I just can't hear the word "teleportatiom" without Belial-damned, triple-dealing fairies coming to my mind!!!! (I should have thought of what you said before electrocuting those orcs int cinders....)
