Two women in contrasting light

QT: Chiaroscuro (As a concept) In the twin Challenger, from the very beginning I envisioned the contrast between the two, even though they are identical, like a chiaroscuro effect. I made several proposals before choosing the one I entered. These are the other proposals, and I thought it was an interesting choice for a QT: Chiaroscuro. It doesn't necessarily have to be with twins. 1. Day and night 2. Actress and character 3. Guardians of the forest 4. Fire and Ice

About this image

A fantasy illustration of two ethereal women walking back-to-back along a rocky trail, one in a flowing white dress under a warm sunset and the other in a deep blue dress beneath a star-filled sky and crescent moon. The image conveys day-versus-night duality, celestial wonder, and magical realism with luminous, wind-swept fabrics and a vivid landscape.

A backstage scene featuring two ornate, regal-costumed performers in dramatic makeup as they mirror each other at a Hollywood-style vanity. The warm bulb-lit dressing room is filled with makeup brushes, bottles, and accessories, creating a vibrant, theatrical mood perfect for stage performance and backstage fashion photography.

A vivid fantasy illustration of a flower-crowned woman walking alongside a tree-like forest spirit in a lush, magical woodland. The scene blends nature and myth with soft greens, pinks, and bioluminescent accents, creating a whimsical, fairy-tale mood that highlights floral attire, woodland creatures, and mystical light.

Yes, the proposal is conceptual, not about style or painting technique.

Hmmmmmmmm this defies the meaning of chiaroscuro for me. It is a technique of lighting contrasts. Or the previously held ill-understood conceived style for some of history’s greatest. The more prominent I know is Leonardo’s. (Which was later found to be aging patina of the paint). The difference between good/bad. Light/dark. Good/evil. Mirror/twin. These are more of contrasting concepts. So I don’t wanna confuse a technique with a concept there. So stating this out first.

  • @charlypalermo ·

En realidad es Claroscuro en nuestro idioma, como concepto, no como tecnica de pintura
