The difference a hyphen makes: Inkwash versus Ink-wash This prompt is a little strange. I made it for Paulie's challenge that required all vowels. It's interesting in it's way because it has so many random things in it that some models pick and choose what to show. Another thing I found out was that a difference a hyphen makes. Inkwash and Ink-wash performed differently even with the same seed. BudgetPixes's models shown here were chosen because I could input the seed to compare apples to apples. In the ink-wash with the hyphen version there was more black especially in the background. Color was sometimes mutated. Under 1 models, there were less figures. However this time color was unaffected. Again hidream ink-wash is more muted, and has more of a grey sky while the inkwash version is a bit more colorful, more green. Inkwash the camera is a little closer to the angel but not nearly as much as Minimax. In the previous sets, ink-wash was the more muted color and had more black or grey going. In this one ink-wash is the more colorful one. Not that it's colorful but inkwash definitely has more black and grey. The color palette looks similar to me although in Inkwash the sky is a darker blue. Pose is different. Almost the same guy. Art style is a bit different. Heavier paintstrokes in Inkwash. Ink-wash has more symbols. Ink-wash does have a wash of black ink on the left corners. That's the only nod to more black that some of the evinced. That concludes my experiment. So what do you think? Pretty interesting, right? Too esoteric? Who cares about a hyphen? Well if you like to use inkwash / ink-wash in sumi-e or ukiyo-e type images, you might care. But it has me wondering about more art words that can be used with and without a hypen. To me the difference is marked. Perhaps it is also marked in other potentially hypenated words.
