Closeup cross section of a flat roof assembly showing layered asphalt

About this image

This detailed closeup displays the stacked layered construction of a flat built-up roof, featuring a granular aggregate top waterproof layer, dark asphalt seam, rigid insulation board, and corrugated metal edge flashing. Sharp, sun-cast shadows emphasize the rough, textured surface of the asphalt roofing and the smooth, reflective finish of the lower metal trim. This shot is a useful reference for roofing installation, roof leak repair, and building construction planning.
